Customer Background:

Business Need:
Seagate Technology needed a way to get organized, a better way to share information. The company had a variety of team collaboration tools. Depending on the project at hand, team members needed to identify the most appropriate collaboration tool to use. This approach proved increasingly cumbersome and inefficient. Seagate wanted information to mold to the way people work rather than vice versa. They required an open solution that was versatile no matter what environment their employees were using. In addition, it was necessary for the solution to integrate into their existing IBM Lotus Domino and IBM Lotus Notes collaboration environment.

Solution:
IBM Lotus Quickr v8 provided the solution Seagate Technology needed. It was easy to install, integrates easily with Lotus Domino and gives them the ability to leverage all of their Lotus Domino expertise. As active participants in the Lotus Quickr Design Partner Program, approximately 500 employees have been using Quickr for 6 months. Now, with one team space solution available, employees are increasingly more productive and efficient. Wider deployment is expected within the June/July timeframe.

Benefits of the Solution:
This solution enables "desktop connectors" that drag and drop from the desktop, Lotus Notes or Lotus Sametime to IBM Lotus Quickr. With this solution, Seagate Technology can add attachments and send links. The user can set their team places without assistance and customize them based on their personal needs. Seagate also benefits from the ability of Quickr to determine security status and the opportunity to use it regardless of the messaging environment. Employees also value the following: Additional collaboration tools like online team places for sharing and collaborating on content, team calendars, and discussion forums. Ability to customize team places based on team needs.

In addition, Quickr's integration with the desktop environment is especially noteworthy. The new solution has become an
integral part of Seagate's working environment.
